Silver Art
from Epirus, Greece
Historical research,
contemporary approach.
The ’Granes’ project is the link between the Greek traditional silversmithing and the current and future innovations in the jewellery field.
Silversmithing is an art that has never ceased to thrive in Greece -from antiquity to the present day- and Granes proposes a new philosophy of making silver art. The endeavour has a strong historical reference, especially on the long tradition of Ioannina (a Northern city, capital of the Epirus region) on the subject known for its articulate forms and crafting methods.
The jewels are produced combining traditional techniques like casting, forging, carving and filigrane with new digital technologies.
The majority of the collection was made using handmade filigrane technique enhanced by 3d modeling/3d printing process. Other technologies have been used for the handmade carved items, like cnc milled molds and various 3d modeling drawings projections methods.
